The Arts and Technology

Within the Arts and Technology students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of disciplines and to pursue areas of interest and passion. Students generate and develop ideas, investigate and manipulate materials, create, make and present arts works and products and critically appraise their works and products and the work and products of others.

Year 7 and 8 students rotate through a variety of areas, remaining with their class teacher throughout the year.  One term is spent studying each of the following: Food Design, Media, Performing Arts (Music, Dance and Drama), Textile Design, Visual Art, Wood Design and 3D Forms. Information Communication Technology is integrated in each rotation and utilised as a tool to enhance and support the learning process.  At the end of Year 8 students have the opportunity to explore an area of the Arts and Technology that particularly interests them and that they would like to study in further depth.  This is in negotiation with their teacher and is based around a given theme.
