The ACT Beacon

Project with its simple message of ‘No Dole’, is designed to guide young people into productive and positive pathways after Year 10.  The program involves such things as work experience, mentoring and Australian Business Week to motivate students and encourage them to stay off “the dole” after leaving school
A particular focus of the program is to have students “sign on” to their future and commit to staying “off the dole” after leaving Year 10 by either continuing their education, taking on an apprenticeship or entering into the workforce.  This “Charter Signing” event is scheduled for early Term 2.

The project invites local business people to become involved by providing authentic work experience for students, visiting our schools to talk about job, training and career opportunities and providing information to develop pathways for students to reach their full potential.  If you would like to be involved in the program, as a local business, please contact us at school.

The launch was very successful.  Congratulations must go to all students as we received extremely positive feedback on the appearance, behaviour, effort and attitude of our students on the day.  Well done!
